You know, Shakespeare went on hiatus too.

Yes, another Fall Out Boy hiatus post.

Take a look at this extract from Ben Crystal’s book on Shakespeare.

“While the verse in his early plays was a very standard and fairly unsurprisingly solid iamic pentameter, after the theatrical hiatus due to the plague and two years writing sonnets and playing with the metre, his verse becomes more and more complex, and much less predictable. It took him time and practice to hone and learn his craft.”

When Shakespeare was forced to take a break, he tried something new, and got new skills out of it, which he then transferred into his theatrical work. And look where he got.

Much the same with Fall Out Boy. They are taking a break, trying new things, learning new skills. While they’re in a different style to what they are famous for, they’re still honing their music skills; and when the hiatus ends, they will be transferred into Fall Out Boy, making their music more complex and more exciting for both the band and the audience.
